Hi! My name is Nikki. My husband Dan and I have three girls: Mackenzie, who just turned 10, and twins, Delilah and Harper, who are 5. We've been married for 11 years and live in Rockland, New York. I was a high school English and theater teacher for 7 years, but recently decided to follow my dream of interior designing. Dan graduated from NY Tech and started a company called Masi Piping Designs. While he focuses on plumbing design, both of us have always been very involved in houses, architecture and design. In our early years of marriage, we bought a 1800-square foot Victorian fixer-upper. It was build in 1904 and had not been touched since the 50's. Together, we learned how to completely renovate a house from floor to ceiling. After making this disaster into a diamond, we sold it (in 1 day) and bought a new contemporary house... one that needed more work than the first! Built in 1990, this ugly duckling is located on a private street and surrounded by beautiful million dollar homes. We call it the Dated Teal House. It's filled with wall-to-wall teal carpeting, teal walls and mirror-covered walls with matching triangle teal mirror cut-outs. While it's a 4,200 square-footer, the first floor is mazed, making every room feel cramped. Basically, we aim to transform this dated Contemporary into a Modern Farmhouse. It requires a complete overhaul and I intend to share my journey with you. I love before and afters, so I'll be sure to add post of my old house too so you can get an idea of how I design. Together, we can learn, explore, and enjoy the designing process of this crazy job!
